Fudge

It is very late and I am up with Lucy. Her favorite lovie that we call Ducky has separated  from his pacifier (this is ducky number two that was Maggie's.) We have been wanting to break her of this but this is like breaking a heroin addict, and now it is cold turkey. She keeps handing it to me and saying "daddy fix." It is honestly breaks my heart. It is time though.

Five fr Friday: Five Random Thoughts From A Three Year Old

It's time to bring back the Five for Friday. So here we go:

1. If I keep asking my parents I am sure to get it.

2. I don't need to sleep. I can keep going all nigh zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

3. I have to have this right friggin now.

4. My sister wasn't playing with this toy that I saw from the other room through a wall.

5. I don't want to take a bath. I don't wanna get out of the bath.

BONUS- GO 49ERS!*

*One of the happiest days of my life when Maggie said this. Now when Lucy sees a football game she says this. Daddy's little princesses!

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables

I had a very interesting conversation with Maggie the other day:

Maggie-"Daddy I want an orange."

Daddy-"We don't have any more"

M- "How about some grapes?"

D- "We are out of those."

M- "Apples?"

D- "We don't have any more of those either."

M- "I want some blueberries."

D- "We don't have any sweetie."

M- "Get me some raspberries."

D- (getting frustrated) "We don't have any."

M- I want some peaches."

D- (settling) "Here have a cookie."

M- "'I don't want a cookie. I want apples."

Laughing because you're doing it right- Priceless.

Never Say Die!

Never give up, never surrender! Never Say Die!

These are words I live by. I plan telling my girls these words a lot. I believe you should never give up. I didn't give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor (lol).

The good news is we got a new laptop that actually works and isn't slower than molasses on a cold Chicago morning, so plan on seeing more posts and pics on this here blog.

Our Christmas tree is up. It went up a little early this year thanks to the neighbors across the street who keep their tree up all damn year. Maggie saw it before Thanksgiving so we put ours up. I really miss having a real tree. The fake tree is a little bit easier to handle and maintain though. I think I will get a small tree to put up. I miss the smells. Maggie is just like her mother with wanting to decorate everything.

We went swimming last week and Lucy is a natural in the water just like her daddy. She had such a good time jumping in the water and having us pull her while she kicks her feet. I think I will take her to swimming lessons while Maggie is in school.

Tomorrow I get to put the rest of the Christmas lights up in the house. I always enjoy putting up the lights.

I'm still here.

I'm not going to make excuses. I have been a little busy to be writing posts on here. I think about this blog often. I miss writing on here a few times a week. I enjoy it.

Lets get all caught up-

Maggie is almost four and goes to pre-school a few days a week. She really enjoys it and is getting better at going up the stairs by herself every day. She comes home and can't wait to show us her crafts she made in class. School has been very good for her. She is being more social with other children and it really helps in the potty training. She was potty trained before school started but would still have accidents.

Lucy is two now and really enjoys her time alone while Maggie is at school. She doesn't have her sister stealing her toys. Lucy is a night owl. She loves to sit on the couch with us a few nights a week. She will call us from her bed and say couch. She is good about putting herself back to bed though.

A few months a go we got a little kitten and named her Sadie. She is very good with the girls and they love her a lot. My old cat Luke has been more active with the new cat and has always been great with the girls. Sadie loves to curl up next to girls and is very tolerable to them toddler handling her.

I was working as a paramedic and then the company I was working for pretty much folded and we all lost our jobs. It was too bad because we had a good thing going. Management screwed that place up royally. I'm hanging tough and there is a chance we could be back again in a new form.

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving and will be driving down state to eat with the in-laws. Should be a good time except for getting out of Chicago tomorrow.

Anyway, HAPPY THANKSGIVING every one!

It's Been Awhile

Yes it has been a very long time since I have graced this blog with a bunch of typed letters and sentences. I miss doing this a lot. But in an attempt to make excuses (as I am very good at doing) I will try to explain. For the most part the main reason I have not been on here is because our laptop is having issues. It freezes up quite a bit and we really don't use it much anymore until I am able to fix it. Our other computer is in the basement and I don't always get a chance to spend time in my basement. I usually will do things on the laptop upstairs while other things are going on, i.e. the wife is wife is watching some lame ass show.

I actually think about blogging all the time but it is hard to get a way downstairs and blog. I haven't given up. Best advice my mom ever gave me is ''never, never give up.''

Well lets do some catching up shall we?

Maggie is currently potty training. Which is very difficult. There is a lot of drama involved. You want her to sit on potty: tears. You praise her and tell her good job and you are proud of you: tears. Slowly we are getting there. I was really proud of her the other day when I was getting the girls bath ready and she came in carrying the potty bowl (we got her a princess potty thing that sits on floor) and said she went pee pee. I was so proud of her for doing it by herself and gave her a hug. Unfortunately this brought tears. So is stopped and let her watch whatever she wants on the TV. Which brings up another problem.

Maggie watches WAY too much TV. I am against her watching so much but you have this magical box that lights up and keeps them distracted. I dislike how much TV she watches, but it has come to a point that it saves some of our sanity. I can turn on the magic light up box and get some chores done around the house. Although I have withheld and TV and Kindle privileges ( this kid can work the Kindle better than I can) until she sits on potty. Which she has gotten a lot better at.  I love and hate that magic light up box.

Lucy is doing very well. She is our little cuddle bug. She loves to be held. She also likes to tell you how it is. If she doesn't want something she will make you well aware. We call her an angry bird because she squawks all the time when she is mad. Maggie thinks she is the boss. I say thinks because the way I see it Lucy is not gonna put up with Maggie's bossiness what so ever.

Lucy is getting so big. She is already sleeping with a pillow (this was Maggie's doing, she insisted Lucy have a pillow). I think any day now we will be taking the rail off of the crib to make into a toddle bed. Lucy is already starting to try and climb into her crib.

Stayed tuned, more to come.

For the record I dislike the band Staind. That is all.

Five for Friday: Five Great Things From The Past Two Weeks.

Hello again. I am going to keep this one short as I am preparing Maggie's birthday party tomorrow.

1. Lucy is now walking. The pic from last week is her walking into the play room. I had to chase after her because she moves so fast. She just decided one day to start walking.

2. Found out I passed my state test. I am now a licensed paramedic. Feels pretty damn good.

3. Got some good news from some family.

4. Found out that I will be an uncle to another nephew due sometime in spring (I wished I remembered when but it has been a long day and I noticed my glass was empty.

5. Maggie is now three years old!

Five for Friday: Five cute things that my daughters do.

1. Maggie used to say this and it needs to be recorded. When she wanted to be picked up she would say "up you." Too damn cute. I miss it.

2. Lucy smiles every time she sees me. I love her smile.

3. Maggie Told me just this morning that her heart belongs to daddy. Well she's right. Made my day.

4. Lucy will stick her finger up to her mouth like she is telling you to shush.

5. Hearing Maggie (and Lucy soon) telling me she loves me every day.

It's been a while

Yes it has been a long time. School is making me very busy. I am actually at the hospital now. I have some free time so I shall blog.

I have discovered that along with this very hectic school that it is very hard to be a stay at home parent. I'm still home with the girls 3-4 days a week when the wife is working. I know not doing the best job, but I am doing my best. With school I spend a lot of time out of house and I don't really like leaving the house when I'm home.

I feel bad because we have a great park down the street and I need to take girls there more. Especially now that Lucy is being more active. She wants to walk by herself so bad!

Yesterday I went down stairs to switch laundry and when I came up Lucy had scooted (she still doesn't crawl) all the way to an end table and lifted herself up. She was smiling at me after I freaked out when I didn't see her in middle of the room where I left her.

I am doing better with them every day.
I have drastically cut Maggie's tv time down because she was watching it too much. She loves watching tv but I limit it to when I trying to get chores done, or before I have my coffee. I can see why some parents just plop their kids in front of it all day, but kids need to be playing.

I never really knew potty training would be so hard. Maggie will change day to day whether she wants to use the potty or not. I try to put her in undies, but she is 2 and wants what she wants. She is getting better on telling me when she has a dirty diaper though .

School is winding down so you should see some more posts coming soon.

2. I met my wife in a bar.

3. I was once printed in the Chicago Sun-Times.

4. I love to cook. I prefer making stuff from scratch.

5. I'm stuck at home tonight while the wife is out with all of her cousins.

Five for Friday: Five Things That Have Been Happening.

Hello all. Yes it has been quite a long time since I have posted something. Since the girls are napping I have a little bit of a chance to do a little writing. I am now half way through Paramedic school and have some free time.

Here are some things that have been going on:

1. We are almost done with the kitchen. I have been so busy I haven't had  time to finish painting it. At least the kitchen is functional. All of the appliances are in there and they are awesome.

2. Lucy's first birthday is at the end of the month and it is very hard to believe that she is almost a year old.

3. For about two Weeks I was either out of the house or doing paper work for school. That is how busy I have been.

4. Maggie is doing great. Yesterday she asked the wife if I was her first marriage.

5. We went for ice cream (frozen custard really) and the girls each got their own cone. Lucy finished her's in about a minute. Then she kept getting mad that we weren't giving her more. She got daddy's love for ice cream.
